Do you want to know why business owners feel like they are so busy?  
Because there's LOTS to do.

It's not as easy as sitting back and watching the money come in. It's a big responsibility being a business owner, and each day a new little fire starts to take away your attention from the bigger picture.

For example, you want to work on Marketing your business, so that you have more leads, so that you can bring in new clients and get paid more money.  Sounds easy?  Nope - you need to think about who your customer is - who will buy from you, what they are experiencing now, so that you can get their attention. Then what are they going to buy?  Do you want to do paid advertising or free advertising? How much do you want to spend - both in dollars and time?
If you aren't clear on who your customer is, then any money spent on advertising will not be as effective as money spent with a clear goal.

 Do you want to be known as the "guy" who does one thing really well - the go-to in the industry, or an all rounder who can fix all sorts of problems for your customers?  Do you have a problem to solve that needs to be dealt with urgently (think 24/7 plumber or emergency department) or are you just opening for standard business hours (or something in between?).  What is your niche?  

Then there's the delivering of good quality products or services.  Are you cheap and quick, or bespoke and expensive?  There's room for everyone depending on what you want to offer.  Have you got systems and procedures, do you have a team working with you, or is everything on you?

As a human, you can't just be all about your business - having a healthy life means that you can show up better for your business, and have the ability to mentally and physically support your business so it can support you.

Then let's talk about customers - how can you deliver the best service to the right customers who will keep coming back?  What's your income, costs and profit?  And how can you keep running a profitable business so that it can afford to pay your wages, and stay open so that you can also afford to pay your staff and service your customers for years to come.

Oh - and speaking of staff...  how much paperwork, management time, rules and regulations are involved in managing your team?  We estimate that it's over 1 hour per team member per week.  That's a lot of time (and doesn't get spread out evenly every week either!).  Making sure they are trained to do their job properly, make sure they deliver the right results safely and professionally, without injuring themselves or putting the business in a bad light.

If you are exhausted just reading this - have a thought for your business owner mate, boss or acquaintance.  While it looks from the outside that they might be "raking it in", running a business is definitely hard work, and they could use a hug or a shoulder to lean on at times.
